Pre Primary

Pre Primary

In the pre-primary section we have taken special care to create a warm, welcoming and cheerful atmosphere, in which children feel secure and happy. Classrooms are bright and spacious, opening into green garden that allow children to explore the world of grass, sand, flowers and pets. The Pre Primary curriculum at RIS is a perfect blend of the traditional and the Montessori Method of teaching. In this curriculum, the practical approach of Montessori is used to teach the concepts of Mathematics, Composite Science, and Jolly phonics. The Jolly Phonics program is designed to teach children to read and write. Children learn the 42 letter sounds of the English language, rather than the alphabet. They are then taken through the stages of blending words to develop reading and writing skills. The Montessori method of teaching aims at the development of the whole child, ultimately preparing him for life’s many rich experiences.

A special children’s playground provides ample space for supervised play. Teachers play most important role in the young student’s life. Our teachers live up to a trusting child’s expectations—caring, friendly and fair yet firm and discipline-conscious when needed. A carefully selected range of toys, learning aids, craft materials and books complete the picture. The child’s first experience at formal education starts with the Nursery level. The Nursery year is spent in learning social skills and how to get along with other children of their age. They also learn the initial skills of logical thinking using Montessori methods and use of equipment. They learn to work within a time frame and focus quietly, again using the guidelines of the Montessori methods. They learn the English language by listening and speaking. They begin to hear and understand the sounds and shapes of the alphabet.
